AC charging

In this area you will find information about RCMs in accordance with DIN EN 62020 tried and tested in practice for AC/DC sensitive fault current monitoring.

A prerequisite for safe charging of electric vehicles is to observe and follow certain safety rules in order to prevent hazards for the user, damage to the electric vehicle and damage to the infrastructure.

The charging of an electric vehicle is described in the standards IEC 61851-… resp. DIN EN 61851. Distinction is made between the modes 1…4. In mode 2, the use of a portable residual current protective device (ICCB, IC-RCD) is required, while in mode 3 a residual current device (RCD) and an overcurrent protective device is to be used, e.g. in the charging station.
