In this area you will find ISOMETERs tried and tested in practice for monitoring the insulation resistance of high-voltage systems in electric vehicles in accordance with ISO/FDIS 6469-3:2011(E).

    Because it is small (only weighing 50 g), the PCB can easily be integrated into the information structure of an electric vehicle, using a PWM interface or an optocoupler, for example.

During vehicle operation, the on-board electrical system, the so-called high voltage system (HV system), is designed as an insulated power supply system that is comparable with an IT system in accordance with IEC 60364-4-41:2007 Chapter 411.6. There is no connection between the active conductors and earth in this system.

All accessible conductive parts which may constitute a safety hazard in case of a first fault, are to be connected to the electrical chassis of the vehicle via an equipotential bonding conductor. If the insulation resistance between the active conductors and the earth (electrical chassis) cannot be ensured throughout the entire service life of the vehicle and under all service conditions, either supplementary insulation or an insulation monitoring device are required according to ISO/FDIS 6469-3:2011(E) Electrically propelled road vehicles-Safety specification- Part 3: Protection of persons against electric shock.
